UBT Signs Cooperation Agreement With Warsaw University
06/02/2013Invited by the Warsaw University, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, President of the UBT, has stayed on a two-day visit in Poland. UBT President Hajrizi and Prof. Dr. Marta Kiocinska-Habiovr, Vice-Rector for the Academic Issues of the Warsaw University, held an important meeting and signed an agreement on cooperation between the two universities.
The agreement provides for cooperation between the two universities at all levels of the studies – Bachelor, Master, and Doctorial – as well as academic staff and students’ exchange, development of common research projects, seminars, workshops, and other academic events of the students and academic staff. The agreement also provides for using of the respective libraries for the scientific research, distance studying programs, joint implementation of projects, summer courses and other scholarly events of high importance for the two institutions and the countries as well.
The cooperation between the UBT and the University of Warsaw started earlier through the “Erasmus-Mundus” Program, which enables exchange of students and academic staff. During the visit to Poland, UBT President Hajrizi also met the representative of the Warsaw University management, who briefed him on the developments in the university, with the special emphasis on the studies in specific faculties.
Besides signing the cooperation agreement, during the two-day visit to the Warsaw University, UBT Rector Hajrizi delivered a lecture in front of the students and academic staff, on the topic “Political and Economic Aspects and Innovation in the Western Balkans with Special Emphasis on Republic of Kosovo.” (Full text of Prof. Dr. Hajrizi’s speech delivered at the Warsaw University can be found below)
UBT President Hajrizi also met Prof. Dr. Edward Halizak, Director of the Institute for International Relations, with whom he discussed a series of important projects of mutual interest.
The Warsaw University is the largest university in Poland. It was established in 1816. Today is ranked within among the best university of the world. According to the Polish press, it is the best university in the country. The university has 54,000 students and a staff of 3500. It cooperates with a big number the universities worldwide and has signed 240 cooperation agreements with 54 world universities. It also has 1000 agreements as part of the European Union’s Erasmus Mundus Program and it is an active member of the project.
