UBT Architecture Students, Developers of Important Projects for Prishtina

Ermal Canaj and Shkumbin Alihajdaraj, both of them students of the UBT Faculty of Architecture, have been engaged with the Directorate of Urban Planning, Construction, and Environment Protection of the Prishtina Municipality as interns in a number of projects together with students from other universities.

Since their involvement in the project in July 2015, Ermal Canaj and Shkumbin Alihajdaraj have been participated in designing a number of projects of this directorate.  Some of them include: the project on the restoration of “Hivzi Sylejmani” library and the “Hivzi Sylejmani” children’s library in Prishtina.  Their tasks in the project include restoration, functional improvement, and preservation of the architectonic and heritage values of these buildings.

 

The latest project in which Canaj and Alihajdaraj have demonstrated outstanding skills is the one on portable markets which provides for the construction of 100 mobile vender points throughout Prishtina’s quarters.  In an internal competition announced by the Prishtina Municipality, the idea and design worked out by Ermal Canaj was chosen as the winning proposal for the project.  Later the idea was developed and designed with the support of Shkumbin Alihajdari and now it has been finalized.

The realization of this project and construction of those vendor points, which will be seen in different parts of Prishtina, is expected in October this year.  Currently, Ermal Canaj and Shkumbin Alihajdaraj are involved in overseeing the production of the prototype stands and later they will oversee the production of the final version, which are expected to serve the city Prishtina.

Besides Ermal and Shkumbin, a number of other students from the UBT Faculty of Architecture have been involved in different projects of the Directorate on Urban Planning, Construction, and Environment Protection. They include: examination of the current situation and designing of the shelves in all elementary schools of Prishtina Municipality, design and arrangement of external area of the elementary schools in Prishtina Municipality, examination of the current state of affairs and projection of promenading areas and pavements in the city of Prishtina, identification of the location and designing of car parks along the streets of the city of Prishtina, and other projects.
