Aims and Objectives

With an ever-accelerating pace of change in industry, rapid exapanding technology access, fast improving information and communication systems, globalisation of markets and business competition, resource limitations and rising customer expectations, engeneers have had to adop a new way of doing business. The pressing need for increased productivity as well as for the delivery od products of uniform high quality is turining industry more towards computer-based systems. As a synergy of core information and communication technologies is fast becoming an important component of modern products and processes that are highly integrated in functionalities.  The new thinking framework in the process of designing computer and engeneering systems, database, programming, software, information security,  information managment is bringing a paradgm shift in recognising the importance of the occupation and technology in enhancing productivity. The development of computer science and engeneering is therefore crucial to competitivness of Kosovo economy, public administration and personal services.

The sudy programme at UBT aims to offer a computer science and engeneering curricula to enable graduates to operate and work in different sectors. Computing is  broad field that connects to and draws from many disciplines including mathematics, electrical engeneering, statistis, fine arts, linguistics and physical and life sciences. The study programme should enable graduates to develop the flexibility to work accross disciplines. Secondly, the study programme intends to prepare graduates that can work in a variety of professions. Thirdly, the study programme is designed to prepare graduates to suceed in a rapidly changing field. The field is changing and will continue to change rapidly and it is essential that the graduate is committed to life-long learning.  Fourthly, the study programme provides the core fundamental theoritical education but it also intends to develop a process-oriented spirit and encourage students to link their theoritical understanding with concre real life practical applications in the industry.  Finally, the study programme is designed while incorporating some of the fundamental knowledge areas based on best international practices and the programme intends to reinforce students’ committment to access knowledge and practice in international educational institutions and industry.
