Cooperation Between UBT and Germany’s Freiburg University Starts

As part of the inter-university cooperation, prominent professor from the University of Freiburg, Dr. Ing. Thomas A. Bier has been on a visit to the Republic of Kosovo from 17 to 20 February, at an invitation by UBT President Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi.

UBT President Hajrizi and Dr. Ibrahim Krasniqi, director of Academic Issues of the UBT, organized a special reception for Prof. Dr. Ing. Thomas A. Bier today, with whom they discussed the cooperation in the sector of university education between the UBT and the University of Freiburg and prospects for deepening the cooperation between these two academic institutions on exchanging of knowledge and experiences and boosting of cooperation in the practical-laboratory work.

 

UBT President Hajrizi briefed the visitor on the achievements of the UBT and expressed the UBT interest for expanding cooperation with partners from Germany.  Professor Bier was impressed by the achievements of the UBT and the willingness on the part of the UBT leadership to start cooperation with that German university.  In front of the UBT students, Professor Bier delivered a lecture on the construction materials.

In addition to the meeting with the UBT leadership and lecturers, Professor Bier delivered a lecture in front of the students of the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the UBT academic staff and other interested audience on the topic: Construction materials and their development through history.

This was a good opportunity for the audience to be acquainted with the development of the construction materials and technology of production, as well as application in the construction projects.  Professor Bier also presented results from different studies on the standards and quality of construction materials in a debate with participants. 

 

Besides the visits to the UBT in Prishtina, during his stay in Kosovo on 19 and 20 February, he will also visit the new UBT campus in Lipjan and in other towns of Kosovo.
