Despite of that, we have managed to found a unique school of economy where entrepreneurship and innovation are obligatory as far as the curriculum is concerned. Moreover a similar institution has been founded even in other fields of study of UBT, owing to the fact that bearing those skills as well as competencies leads to creating new products and an appropriate infrastructure. As a result, all this struggles for perfection lead to shaping the future well-prepared entrepreneurs”, stated Hajrizi.

In addition he underlined that thanks to the collaborations students are competing with the most renowned worldwide universities and have been awarded several prizes. Consequently, all those achievements have come as a result of fostering and inspiring students to carry out entrepreneurial joint ventures.

“UBT has managed to create the largest Faculty of Computer Science, which is potentially contributing to the field of digitalization. As a matter of a fact, our students have created several “spin offs”, within UBT and even broader. Our students are capable of competing with the most remarkable worldwide universities and are consistently being awarded prizes”, emphasized Hajrizi.

The Minister of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Besim Beqaj availed from the occasion to underscore that UBT has been always a leader as far as relation with business is concerned and is continuously carrying out policies which aim at supporting the young entrepreneurs.

“Actually, we are coping with a rapid trend of gaining benefits by utilizing the latest trends of technologies. The technological developments comprise of in itself the fourth industrial revolution, aided by the younger generations which are highly committed to face the demanding challenges of this century”, said Beqaj.

Obviously, Beqaj also addressed the barriers which pose an unsurpassable challenge for the development of entrepreneurship. It is highly important to interweave science, research and innovation in order to meet the demands of the labor market. Due to the fact, the ministry led by him is putting a lot of effort in regulating the ecosystem, infrastructure, legal and financial framework.

The deputy head office from UNICEF in Kosovo, James Mugaju assessed that investing on youngsters is the proper way that leads to the prosperity of a state. According to him, UBT has managed to bring forth this approach by consistently supporting the innovators, young entrepreneurs, who have a key role in fostering prosperity in Kosovo.

“I evaluate the leadership and contribution of UBT, to invest in the youngsters, and has successfully managed to evoke the spirit of entrepreneurship among them”, underlined he.

There is an urging need to break the barriers Kosovo is facing, and this will be a major step towards paving the path for a successful entrepreneurship. Mugaju pointed out that investing in education and human capital are the underlying pillars of being released from poverty, marginalization, and ignorance.

According to him the second challenge is establishing policies backing peace and political stability because without them it is difficult to create a sustainable system for the youngest generations.

The discussion panel was enriched by the presence of the BIRN Representative Labinot Leposhtica, who brought forth important findings from the research that his institution had carried out named, “Engagement for Equality”. Unfortunately, the statistics of this survey were worrisome. According to those statistics Kosovo there is witnessed a severe inequality concerned with gender-based entrepreneurial ventures. In this perspective, the female rights are still being violated.

According to the statistics only 16% of women in Kosovo enjoy the right to inherit property. Presumably, these trends are higher in Albania with 29% and Serbia with 49.

“Contrary to the other states, Kosovo is encountering numerous weaknesses concerned with this issue.

Leposhtica argued that this has come as  result of numerous factors, such as the lack of a proper legal framework, which adversary affects the women. In many cases women are deliberately ill-informed by the noter or judge about the judicial verdicts concerned with returning back the property which belongs to them.

Many professors, students and invited guests became part of this discussion and provided their ideas and solutions to the barriers that the entrepreneurs are coping with. The Global Week of Entrepreneurship took place yesterday and the main focus was on the Open Data and Big Data in entrepreneurship. The opening session started at 17.30 o’clock in UBT Prishtina.
