Cyber Security and Privacy pose a challenge to Kosovo, and is recommended for the institutions to have a common collaboration

In the framework of the International Month of Cyber Security, there has taken place the Conference of cybernetics and privacy with the topic “Challenges in the cybernetics space” an activity which was co-organized in collaboration with Cyber Security and Privacy sector within UBT.

 

Part of this conference was the Minister of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Besim Beqaj, who among other emphasized that it would be worth using to imply in the routine jargon the term “digital economy”.

 

Beqaj also underlined the importance of elaborating this topic, which is closely related to global economic developments. Moreover he claimed that cyber security is of significant importance and an underlying factor for which guarantees a sound development of our society.

 

“This technology is not only represented by hardware and software, but even by innovations which are continuously boosting the productivity on daily basis, which are concerned with providing new job opportunities and positively affects the prospect of youth. Economy is growing rapidly and as matter of fact there is witnessed a growth in job positions. The institutional commitment is still not in the expected level”, said Beqaj.

 

When it comes to the digitalization and cyber security, the UBT Rector prof.dr. Edmond Hajrizi has claimed that the institution which is leaded by him is in itself a model which bears the latest trends of technological developments. UBT has the best laboratories which elaborate aspects related to cyber security.

 

Due to the fact that UBT is the first high education institution to have employed security labs and CERT, it is at the same time a member of the most renowned organizations such as FIRST.

 

UBT Rector Edmond Hajrizi emphasized that this a positive approach and that those activities are of great importance when it comes to meet the demands of labor market. Moreover he underscored that UBT is the largest higher education institution in the region as far as the preparation of experts and professionals in the field of security is concerned.

 

UBT has already established a strong collaboration with CERT as well as with the team of cyber security experts who are willing and committed to cope with trainings, analysis, providing recommendations for incidents and smart solutions for the public and private sector. UBT is highly committed to shape skillful and well-prepared professionals. Despite of that, it is worth mentioning that the involvement of state institutions is highly important to draft common policies in this aspect.

 

The Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo (GCBK), Emin Mehmeti claimed that the hostile hacking of data is increasingly becoming a worrisome issue. In addition he pointed out that CBK is highly committed to preserve the data of its citizens.

 

“Cyber Security is the underlying objective of the financial system of Central Bank of Kosovo. We have seriously taken into account the cyber security and have assured that data maintains the highest components of security”, said he.

 

The deputy Minister of Interior Affairs Izmi Zeka, stated that these processes pose a challenge which ought to be surpassed and owing to the fact there an urging necessity of carrying out a common incentive.

 

Sokol Vladi the director of Microsoft in Albania, emphasized that cyber security is posing a global challenge and further recommended a closer collaboration to prevent them from occurring.

 

Kujtim Gashi from the Agency of Information Society (AIS), within the Ministry of Public Administration, said that higher education institutions may at a large extent aid this aspect. Consequently, by being a state which is not fully-consolidated the informative technology is among the most important priorities.

Teuta Zymberi coming from FIT has recommended that children should be banned of having access on the internet and parents are obliged to have a better on the web pages which are visited from their children.

 

Hana Qerimi from the Digital School, said that children should be fully-informed about the cyber security, owing to the digital revolution of the modern world.

In the end of the session the professor of the University of Prishtina has revealed the most eminent challenges of cybernetic space as well as the aspect of education.

 

The conference with the topic “Challenges in the cybernetic space”, was organized in collaboration with UBT aiming to elaborate issues concerned with importance of security and privacy.
