“Quality Kosovo” Become Fully-Fledged Member of European Organization for Quality
24/12/2013The Kosovar Association “Quality Kosovo” has been admitted as fully-fledged member of the European Organization for Quality. The decision was reached at a meeting of this organization’s general council held in Istanbul, Turkey.
UBT President Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi who leads the “Quality Kosovo” Association, described this development as a big success in terms of Kosovo’s representation in the international institutions. After becoming a member with all rights, the Republic of Kosovo will be able to participate in many forums and other international organizations of quality.
It is worth noting that the admission of the “Quality Kosovo” was prevented by representatives of Serbia, who through a written memo requested that Kosovo does not become part of the organization. However, Kosovo was admitted with the majority of the votes, that is, 35 votes of European countries participating in the European Organization for Quality.
Quality Kosovo has operated since 2006. It applied for admission at the European Organization for Quality which was approved by the executive board in October this year. Later, Mr. Hajrizi was invited to give a presentation of the “Quality Kosovo” at a meeting of the general assembly held in Kiev.
In 2008, following a presentation by Dr. Hajrizi of the “Quality Kosovo” work, the general council voted in favor of admitting this national representative of the Republic of Kosovo to that body. There were efforts also there by representatives of the countries that have not recognized Kosovo to prevent Kosovo’s admission this could not be prevented owing to the votes of the majority of the members of the general council of the European Organization for Quality.
“Quality Kosovo” deals with matters of quality, standards, certifications, and confirmations. It promotes quality in Kosovo according to the European and international standards. It also deals with certification of the systems of the products according to the international standards like ISO 9001 and others.
