UBT Rector Dr. Edmond Hajrizi Bestowed with Year’s Academic by Albanian ICT Awards

Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, Rector of the UBT, has received the ICT Academic the Year prizes by the Albanian ICT Awards at a ceremony in Tirana.  Three other representatives from the UBT — students Muhamed Ratkoceri, Arlind Hajredinaj, and Altin Ukshini – were also awarded with prizes.


The Albanian ICT Awards ended with a traditional gala evening at which the awards in seven categories were presented.  This national competition and the highest evaluation in the sector of information technology in the Albanian realm finalized the efforts of identifying innovation stars in the field of information technology in Albanian inhabited areas. 


“Dr. Edmond Hajrizi is the founder, president, and CEO of the UBT, the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Management and Engineering, the Kosovar Agency for Management, founder of the UBT Library with over 200,000 books, which is the largest in the Albanian territories.  Mr. Hajrizi has an impressive academic CV,” said Professor Dr. Kozeta Servani, President of the jury, while presenting the award to the UBT president.


Three UBT students, Muhamed Ratkoceri, Arlind Hajredinaj, and Altin Ukshini were also honored with prizes.


 Muhamed Ratkoceri received a diploma in the category of the ICT diploma of the year with a project in the artificial intelligence area.  Mr. Ratkoceri was also given a medal for special contribution to the ICT sector in Albania.  He received a medal for achievements in NASA Space Apps Challenge” People’s Choice Award.”   


Altin Ukshini received a prize for the contribution to the ICT sector.  Arlind Hajredinaj received a medal as a nominee for the “ICT Mobility of the Year Prize” with the application “Auto Shkolla” [Driving School].


The impressive ceremony organized for the a third year in a row in Tirana, was attended by Milena Harito, Minister of Innovation and Public Administration of Albania, Rita Hajzeraj, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Wellbeing of Kosovo, Erion Veliaj, former Minister of Social Wellbeing and Youth of Albania, and US diplomatic representatives, leaders of businesses and industry organizations of the information technology from Kosovo, Albania, as well as IT professionals, scholars, representatives of the universities, and media.

 

A number of other awards were presented at the ceremony.  Mergim Cana from the Gjirafa Company was declared winner of the ICT Innovation of the Year.  In the category of the ICT Rising Start of the Year, was declared 16-year-old Kelvin Qobani from Durres.  Bledar Bregu, founder of the FindIt.al won the medal of the ICT Mobility of the Year.  Mergita Frasheri from Tirana won the ICT Diploma of the Year.  Albania’s public service ICT of the year in Albania was given to the Ministry of Wellbeing and Youth, while in the case of Kosovo it was given to the Kosovo Tax Administration for the project on electronic declaration of taxes.  Lindita Shomo was given the prizes of the Woman of the Year in the sector of the ICT, while Ludovik Laventure MPAY, Arber Rrapi Dekorim.com, Frenki Ktona and Krenare Shala were given prizes for special contribution to the ICT sector in Albania.
