KFOR Commander, Major General Enrico Barduani, visited UBT, participating in a discussion with the institution’s staff and students of Political Science and Security Studies Faculty. During the meeting, he shared information about KFOR’s mission in Kosovo, emphasized the importance of peace and stability in the region, and discussed the role of the international force in supporting development and security. The discussion provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on the challenges and opportunities presented by the current situation in Kosovo and the region, as well as the importance of education and youth engagement in sustainable development processes. The Italian Ambassador in Kosovo, Antonello De Riu, also participated in the meeting with his speech.

The Commander expressed that he felt honored and privileged to be present as NATO Commander, as a collaborator, and as a participant in this significant conference, in the presence of those he considers and believes to be the most important part of society:  youth, and students.

“Regardless of ethnicity, religious belief, and, of course, political convictions, there is still a long way to go. Dear students, the future is in your hands. Only you have the power to change things and, above all, to change the mind set. Let us walk the final mile together, ensuring that the Balkan Peninsula never returns to its dark days,” said Major General Enrico Barduani.

UBT Rector, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, briefed Major General Barduani and Ambassador Antonello De Riu on UBT’s commitment to providing educational opportunities for students in various fields. He highlighted UBT’s significant role in positively impacting society by offering high-quality education and development opportunities for its students. Hajrizi also praised KFOR’s ongoing work in Kosovo and its pivotal role in creating a safe and stable environment for the citizens of Kosovo. He stated: “I personally thank you for your extraordinary commitment. Thanks to you, we now feel free and enjoy peace, which allows us to act. Through this contribution, as has been proven on many other occasions, we are present in significant investments and in developing a culture that continues to grow. It is important to emphasize that lifelong learning is the foundation of our success and progress. Thank you once again for this invaluable contribution.”
