Historic: Kosovo admitted to world sports medicine elite

Kosovo enters international history strongly, becoming part of the International Federation for Sports Medicine (FIMS) as a regular member. The decision was made at the Council of Delegates meeting in Dubai on Saturday 26 October.

Apart from an abstention from Georgia, all the present countries unanimously voted for Kosovo’s membership, enthusiastically accepting the project of the Kosovo Association for Sports Medicine (KASEM), an initiative that was founded under the UBT initiative.

The Rector of UBT, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, was present to present the presentation and make this historic request. He thanked the delegates for their contribution to this process and praised the Executive Committee for accepting the decision to the General Delegates Council. A special thanks went to Professor Norbert Bachl, who has been a constant support to Kosovo in helping build the necessary structures for membership, as well as the President of FIMS, Prof. Fabio Pigozzi.

Rector Hajrizi stressed that Kosovo will be an engaged and responsible member, ready to contribute to the development of sports medicine at new international levels. This membership represents not only a great success for Kosovo, but also an opportunity to promote and develop even more sports medicine with international standards.

In this context, Kosovo is finally creating a new path for sportspeople and sports medicine professionals, taking an important step towards a brighter future. Fims membership is a testament to Kosovo’s commitment and commitment to advancing this discipline at the global level, becoming an inspiring model for other countries.

In this important event, besides membership, Rector Hajrizi attended the Congress, visited the sports medicine technology fair and held talks with companies for cooperation with UBT and Kosovo. Rector Hajrizi also held a series of meetings with delegates and experts from different countries, including representatives of the world’s Olympic committees.

During his visit to dubai University for Medicine, he also attended a parallel orthopedic conference and had a meeting with Prof. Filippo Parisi from Italy, head of Shoulder Academy, with whom cooperation will continue for Kosovo and the Western Balkans.
