UBT places Kosovo in network of international union of laboratories and experts RILEM
22/09/2022Thanks to UBT and specifically the Faculty of Engineering of Construction and Infrastructure, Kosovo has achieved yet another success in the international arena, thus becoming a member of the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Materials, Systems and World Construction Structures (RILEM).
With the initiative and work of the Project of Construction Engineering and Infrastructure at UBT, Dr. Visar Krelani, as well as the support of the Rector of UBT, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi and the Director and Dean Prof. Dr. Muhamet Ahmeti, the name of Kosovo is already listed in the list of member states and contributing to RILEM, which will provide the contribution and assistance in the development of the construction field and specifically of technical committee (Technical Committee) 287 – CCS Leading: Miguel Ângelo Dias Azenha from the University of Minhos, Portugal and Fragkoulis Kanavaris from Queen’s University, Uk.
RILEM is known as the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Materials, Systems and Construction Structures, which was established in June 1947, with the aim of promoting scientific cooperation in the field of materials and construction structures. The new understanding of the acronym RILEM (Réunion Internationale des Laboratoires et Experts des Matériaux, systèmes de construction et ouvrages), focuses on promoting international cooperation with general access to advanced knowledge, such as: stimulate new directions of research and research, promoting excellence in construction, promote sustainable and safe construction and improved performance and cost benefit to society.
The union’s mission is to advance scientific knowledge with free access to materials, systems and construction structures and encourage the transfer and application of this knowledge worldwide.
Regarding the specific topic dealing with reinforced concrete Technical Committee 287 – CCS, which includes members from: America, China, Australia, France, Great Britain, Austria, Italy, Portugal, as well as UBT from Kosovo, deals with the analysis of the breadth of early and long-term cracks in the reinforced concrete structures.
The continuity of UBT’s investment and its leadership in internationalization also has a high impact as it is already considered a reliable partner based on its work in the field of Engineering in general and in Construction Engineering in particular.
