Curriculum Structure

The program consists of 2 years of 60 credits each, organized in 4 semesters, totalling 120 credits in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), where 1 ECTS = 30 hours of total workload. These are standard reference values, which may however be exceeded in the interest of the quality of education or training. The ratio of teaching hours to additional time required for individual study/practice is variable and depends on teaching methods, individual study/practice requirements and the characteristics and complexity of the area.

In the first year (60 ECTS) of studies, the process is organized based on formal teaching in regular classes for two semesters (30 ECTS each). The program includes the basics of four core areas that correspond to a number of Bachelor programs in the field of Health Sciences. Students choose only three of these fields, amounting to 15 ECTS. This allows students to avoid the field they consider to correspond to their Bachelor’s and take the other three.

By the end of semester 2, students choose an area of major interest (concentration) in which they intend to qualify, where they must attend specific lectures related to the chosen major and complete an internship (15 ECTS) related to the major of interest. The internship activities and experience will be illustrated with a report and a presentation/demonstration of the work done, which will be presented to the committee at the end of the 3rd semester and will be evaluated with a final grade.

The 4th semester (30 ECTS) is devoted to the thesis, which is finalized with a presentation. After completing the program, the student obtains the scientific degree of Master in Health and Physical Activity, where the direction is also specified, in accordance with similar programs and titles in other EU countries. Also, in the diploma supplement, a detailed description will be given regarding the issues addressed during the internship.
